Ten Things of Thankful, May 28th

So happy Memorial Day to all of you Americans out there, I will be thinking of you come Monday when I’m starting my work week.

Happy #1)

This one is huge! It’s so huge it could probably count as Happy 1 through 10. It’s enormous!

So remember my no-good horrible neighbor? The one that was causing me major anguish and torment last year?

He has a for-sale sign up on his house!!!!!! Oh happy happy day!

Currently one of my besties is in Cincinnati for a sporting event and says she’s going to party her ass off tonight in celebration.

Happy #2

After finding out I had missed the last two books in the Harry Potter series, I am happy to say that error has been fixed. Kids series or not, I’ve enjoyed them all.

Happy #3

Kindle Unlimited. If you haven’t heard of it it’s for books what Netflix is for movies. I pay $9.99 a month and get to read as many books as I want from the Unlimited catalogue. It’s awesome.

Happy #4

It’s finally warmed up here. Of course I’m not sure why it always has to go from ‘wearing fuzzy socks and running the furnace’ to ‘time to turn the A/C on’ overnight, but it happens that way nearly every year.

Happy #5

Did I mention the for sale sign next door?

Happy #6

This week I bathed both dogs. I am so happy my son taught them each to get in the tub on command. It can get a little confusing when they both try to hop in at the same time, but it sure saves my back when it’s bath time. Plus now I get to pet silky soft dogs again instead of smelly ones.

Happy #7

My d-bag of a neighbor has his house up for sale! Happy dance, happy dance!

Happy #8

I am making iced coffee today, even if I won’t get to drink it until tomorrow. Last year was my first time even drinking iced coffee because I always thought it would be gross like hot coffee gone cold. Only it wasn’t – gross or hot coffee gone cold. Apparently you have to ‘cold brew’ the coffee for iced coffee.

Coffee sludge

So I have this jar of sludge sitting on my counter for now, but tomorrow it will be all filtered and if the recipe is right, taste yummy with ice and a bit of sugar.

Happy #9

Free gravel with free delivery! So the way it works is if you need stone – roofing companies can be your best source. They get it when they’re working on flat-roofs and have to get rid of it somehow. As long as you aren’t using it for a driveway or whatever.

Happy #10

Finding inspiration and being able to string together sentences and paragraphs on my screen again.

Thirteen years ago, I was newly separated with a leaky faucet. I bought a new cartridge and came home to turn off the water while asking myself "What's the worst that could happen?" and got started. The worst that has ever happened is I've accidentally reversed the hot & cold and had to turn the water back off to fix it. Since then I've taught myself how to do as much as I can, because waiting for Prince Charming is not an option. I'm not so great at relationships, but I can handle this single thing and so can you.

  1. Wow you have a sucky neighbor??? Who knew!!!! Hahaha! Lets just hope they dont leave any of the flying monkeys behind when they finally leave!!!

    1. Can’t wait to sing ding-dong the witch is gone… He does look killer in his sparkling ruby shoes, or oh wait it’s not the shoes, it’s the house he would look good in…

  2. totally congrats on the soon to be hypo-neighbor-from-hell.

(maybe you should think about throwing a House-Emptying Party….)

getting to be the Wild-freakin-Kingdom over at the Doctrine, not in small part to your reminders of dogs-before-humans (or was that humans-before-dogs? shit! I always get that missed up!)

    1. We may have to have a block party for when he does move out….

  3. hope for you its a quick sale… i need to poke my head in and look for that post, i’m intrigued.
it is mind boggling we went from wearing our coats and waking up to 30’s to 40’s morning to summer (not complaining)
ice coffee the best..(try it with half and half) i indulge not often.
now i need to check out the kindle unlimited – did not know this.

    1. It felt like an average week – then I saw that real estate sign! I had heard of the Unlimited before, but didn’t realize it was now available in Canada.

  4. You could have used that for sale sign for all ten things of thankful! I sure hope it sells quickly! You’ve put up with more than enough of him.
We went from fuzzy socks and electric mattress pads to air conditioning, too, but as miserable as it is to be sweaty, sticky hot, it’s still better than being cold.

    1. So do I, so do I. It seemed as if there was a lot of the type of activity you do when trying to sell a house going on over there today, so I do think he’s motivated. I would imagine his wife is tired of living in the midst of neighbors who despise her husband. It makes me feel bad really, but from what I hear it’s the way it has always been where ever the man lives.

    1. I had read and re-read books 1 through 5 multiple times, but I guess when 6 came out, my boys were past HP? Either way I’m grateful I did get to read the last two in the series.

  5. Wow! Congratulations! I remember reading a few posts about the guy next door. Maybe it will be a quick sale but a slow settlement and you can enjoy some peace and quiet before the new neighbors move in πŸ˜€
Isn’t that the best?! Clean smelling, silky feeling dogs. Makes hugging them so much better πŸ˜€ Aren’t you spoiled! Our dogs never liked getting a bath. They loved the towel drying off afterward but not the bath part πŸ™‚
I love iced coffee except drinking it with a straw it lasts all of 2 minutes lol

    1. There will be a party on the day the moving van leaves, that’s all I’ve got to say.

    1. I’ll be happy with neighbors that just stick to their own side of the fence at this point – along with their surface water and whatever.

  6. Oh yay for neighbours moving! We have a not so nice neighbour too that we all wish would move but she isn’t budging anytime soon. What a relief that must be for you!
I’ll tell you what though, a spider landed on me in the bathroom while I was umm…going potty…and I’m terrified of them so I flew off the toilet and ran out buck naked in my living room. My front window blinds were open and our nosy mean neighbour was out there. Ugh, she is so nosy. Maybe she caught a glimpse of my white arse and has second thoughts of moving? Maybe…..or not. LOL. But good for you! I hope you get wonderful new neighbours.
Iced coffee sounds so good this time of year!

    1. I could live with just ignoring this guy if he wasn’t such a trouble maker! Greedy and selfish, he calls himself a carpenter and drainage expert (because he owns a bob-cat). Meanwhile he is the crookedest man on earth and whoever does buy the house will have plenty of work to put in making right all that is wrong.

    1. The coffee is tasty, but the straining out after of cold-brewed coffee is as messy as if you intentionally blew up your coffee maker.

  7. So wait…you have a crappy neighbor? Who knew? I’ve been in that type of situation and nothing is more joyous than the day they leave. Good luck!
I loved every page of the Harry Potter books. Sure, “kid series,” but there is so much symbolism and rich reference in there. Worth many a re-read.
Iced coffee (done correctly) is a fabulous summer indulgence. I have to be careful, though, because I usually drink my coffee with no sugar and I do like my iced coffee a little sweet. It’s way easy to get hooked and then ten pounds later I’m crying. πŸ™

    1. I drink my normal coffee with just a bit of sugar and no milk, iced coffee does need more sweet and milk so I can see the calories piling on.
